| Our forum is empty this weekend. I've learnt one interesting thing and I want to share it with you. My daughter told me that the most popular question on Friday in New Zealand is about plans for the weekend, and they ask about it like this "What are you up to for a weekend?" Funny. Phrasal verbs are really important.

| Цитата ФЛАМИНГО ( ) "What are you up to for a weekend?" Thank you for interesting information, Flamingo! But for me this construction is very difficult to remember. It`s easier to say "What are doing this weekend?" Agree?

| I agree, but they say if you don't know phrasal verbs you don't know English...As for me, I prefer to use simple verbs, too.

| I am used with 'What are you up to?' it's not just in New Zealand. British people usually use it in meaning "What are you doing?'

| You know, girls, it's a very good revision for everyone, I really feel better, when I take part in our discussions. Tell me, do you read books in English? Just for pleasure, not for work or studies? What are your favourite and easy-to-read writers? My three top writers are Mohem, J.K.Jerom and Kingsella, she's a modern writer and her books are very funny, with a famous English sense of humor.

| I have read a couple of Cecelia Ahern´s books. I can´t say I really like the fairy tale novels but her books are easy to read.

| Cappuccino, welcome to our club!
The latest books I have read are "Cakes and ale" by W.Somerset Maugham and "The sea house" by Esther Freud. As I see Maugham is very popular between those who like reading English literature in the original. One of my university mates is a true Maugham`s fan! As for me I also like his style. His books are easy to read.
Have you ever read Esther Freud`s books? You should try. An enigmatic plot, parallels between the time strands - everything you need for good reading!

| GAMAR, I sometimes see their books here in Morocco , but, of course, they're translated into French. Lionne, you have to look for these kind of books in Google in English, unfortunatly it's not my field...
