are you sure? Can "odd" be short for ordered? In this case it wiil be "заказать нормальную еду с собой", like " take away"

Girls, I`ve found the meaning of this collocation. Truth be known = truth be told - по правде говоря. yes

    2) the odd proper meal out.

    Here is this sentence.

They started spending spare time together. Pubs in the evening, the odd proper meal out, if you call burgers a proper meal - that sort of thing.

Usually the word "odd" has meaning -strange, extraordinary.

Now I've found in English dictionary additional meanings of this word:

    1. Deviating from what is ordinary, usual, or expected; strange or peculiar: an odd name; odd behavior. See Synonyms at strange.

    2. Being in excess of the indicated or approximate number, extent, or degree. Often used in combination: invited 30-odd guests.

    3.
    a. Constituting a remainder: had some odd dollars left over.

    b. Small in amount: jingled the odd change in my pockets.

    4.
    a. Being one of an incomplete pair or set: an odd shoe.

    b. Remaining after others have been paired or grouped.

    5. Mathematics Designating an integer not divisible by two, such as 1, 3, and 5.

    6. Not expected, regular, or planned: called at odd intervals.

    7. Remote; out-of-the-way: found the antique shop in an odd corner of town.

So to my mind in this case the word "odd" means SMALL IN AMOUNT (немного) or NOT EXPECTED OR PLANNED (незапланированный)

So, this is my feedback about Sophie Kinsella´s book "I´ve got your number".

It´s the first book of her I´ve read. I really enjoyed every page, it was amazing and made me giggle. I laughed out loud (for example the situation with Mr. Yamasaki and the Scrabble game "And I put the pig" :-) )). And Poppy and Sam... I felt a little like me and Sam ))).

I´m looking forward to reading her other books! I already ordered from Amazon "Can you keep a secret?"

    English tongue twisters

The aim is to say each as quickly as possible, without making any mistakes! In English-speaking countries tongue twisters are often used by speech therapists to improve pronunciation. If you're a learner of English you will improve your own pronunciation with practise.

    Let`s begin!

    I slit the sheet,
    The sheet I slit
and on the slitted sheet I sit.

Sister Suzie's sewing socks for soldiers
Sock for soldiers sister Suzie sews,
If sister Suzie's sewing socks for soldiers,
    Where're the socks for soldiers sister Suzie sews? Sarah, Sarah, sits in her Chevy;
When she shifts she sips her Schlitz,
and when she sips her Schlitz she shifts.
Betty Botter bought a bit of butter. "But," she said, "this butter's bitter!
If I put it in my batter, it will make my batter bitter!"
So she bought a bit of butter better than her bitter butter,
And she put it in her batter, and her batter was not bitter.
So it was better Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter.
A canner can can anything that he can,
But a canner can't can a can, can he?
A certain young fellow named Beebee
Wished to marry a lady named Phoebe
"But," he said. "I must see
    What the minister's fee be
    Before Phoebe be Phoebe Beebee"
To sit in solemn silence on a dull dark dock
In a pestilential prison with a lifelong lock
Awaiting the sensation of a short sharp shock
From a cheap and chippy chopper on a big black block.
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck
If a woodchuck would chuck wood?
A woodchuck would chuck all the wood he could chuck
If a woodchuck would chuck wood.
How much Zen would a Zen master master
If Zen master could master all the Zen?
A Zen master would master all the Zen he could master
If a Zen master should master all the Zen
One smart fellow, he felt smart
Two smart fellows, they felt smart
Three smart fellows, they all felt smart
Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.
A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked.
If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers
How many pickled peppers did Peter Piper pick?
A tutor who tooted the flute
Tried to tutor two tooters to toot
Said the two to the tutor
    "Is it tougher to toot
Or to tutor two tooters to toot?"
A mother to her son did utter
"Go, my son, and shut the shutter"
"The shutter's shut" the son did utter
"I cannot shut it any shutter!"

Well, well, well.... if you miss me, I'll tell you one funny story. Last week I had a lesson with my students, we were learning how to use THERE IS and THERE ARE. At the end as usual I asked them if they had questions. Yes, said one boy, I have a question! What does FBI stand for?
